SEAN T RAY

LIVE EVENT TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Focused in the technical direction and creative design for Live and immersive experiential entertainment.

Sean T. Ray has been working in various fields of entertainment production in New York City since 2005.  He specializes in all aspects of the business wether it be creating audible and visual plans and designs, operating the various control systems, or handling client communications and sales.  This sort of knowledge was built from the ground up over the last 20 years.

Sean began his work in New York as a production hand loading trucks, c-containers and airplane freight palates for massive touring acts.  Ran miles of copper, built massive amounts of truss structures and stages.  Drove and loaded trucks filled with gear.  Focused, circuited, and programmed thousands of production lights and handled massive amounts of power distribution.  Mixed thousands of bands and panels of presentational speakers.  Rigged countless amounts of gear in the air and on the ground.  Switched video programs for basic and complex multiple screen presentations.  Focused thousands of projectors and mapped them to 3 dimensional objects.  Created and built temporary and permanent sets, studios, and cycloramas.  Managed large LAN networks of remote operated equipment.  Designed and installed intelligent permanent audio video and surveillance integrated systems in clubs, businesses, homes, bars, and restaurants. Created complete package music videos from design to delivery.  Produced, drafted, and provided technical direction for 30,000+ attendee music and trade festivals all over the US.

Before his arrival in New York he was a student at the University of Colorado where he studied Audio Engineering, Music and Music Industry related studies.  It was here that he had the opportunity to learn and work with some of the best in the business of studio recording.  During this time he worked by day in sales at a pro audio and musical instrument supply store, by night at two large venues as a FOH audio engineer, all while self managing and booking his own national touring bands not to mention running a small recording studio self built in his basement.

He grew up immersed in the arts throughout his high school career.  Participating as an actor in the schools dramatic productions.  Receiving a double letter jacket for his continued success in various forms of presentation on the National Forensics League speech team.  Writing original songs and performing in various bands on multiple instruments.  During all this artistic involvement he maintained good grades as well as athletic participation in a multiplicity of high school and outside competitive sports.  His love for productions began in elementary school where he developed his creative problem solving skills in a program called Odyssey of The Mind.  It was here where he first found his natural talents for developing an entire show and all of its working components from a simple phrase or idea that was issued to his team.

Sean now lives in the South of Germany with his family and continues to work stateside based out of New York. He has been involved in several award winning productions in the last 2 years at SXSW and a multiplicity of massive productions across the country. His focus remains on developing his awareness, proficiency and operational skills with the latest technology in all elements of live production with a focus in Audio, Video, and Lighting systems. Sean has also kept his Audio mixing for live music, corporate events, studio album recordings and commercial post production skills sharp by taking on several projects each year outside of the usual Technical Direction and Production Management jobs. This work includes A1 Audio Engineer FOH for national touring acts as well as (LD) Lighting and (VD) Video design and operation on European tours.

Sean has been involved in the design and build of 3 large studios in the greater NY area with his own self built production studio in Germany. He has made his life’s work focus to be proficient in as many audio, visual, and lighting programs/systems as possible to widen the possibility of creation.
